1. What We Access
When you connect your Gmail account, JeevesJobs requests three permissions:
- Read access to your inbox, so we can identify emails related to your active job search: replies from hiring managers, interview invitations, and rejection notices.
- Send access, solely to send emails that you compose, review, and explicitly approve within the app. Every outgoing message requires you to click "Confirm & Send" — we never send anything on your behalf automatically.
- Modify access to mark job-related emails as read and apply a "JeevesJobs" label in your inbox so you can find them easily.
2. What We Do With Your Email Data
We scan email metadata (sender address, subject line, date) to identify emails that may be related to your job search. We only read the body of emails that match companies or contacts you are actively tracking in JeevesJobs.
From those emails, we extract structured status signals: reply received, interview scheduled, rejection. We store only the extracted data (sender, date, detected status) — not the full email body. Email content is processed in memory and discarded within the same request.
We retain a short text snippet (up to 500 characters) for 7 days so you can verify the classification in the app. After 7 days, the snippet is permanently deleted. The structured record (who wrote, when, what status was detected) remains as part of your job search history.
Emails you send through JeevesJobs go directly to Gmail's API and live in your Sent folder in your own Gmail account. We log the timestamp and recipient for your activity history but do not retain message content.
3. What We Do Not Do
- We do not sell, transfer, or share your Gmail data with any third party.
- We do not use your email data for advertising or to build marketing profiles.
- We do not use your email data to train AI models.
- We do not read emails that are unrelated to your job search. Once we determine an email does not match your tracked companies or contacts, we do not access its body.
- We do not send any email automatically. Every outgoing email requires your explicit approval through a confirmation dialog.
- We do not store full email bodies. Only short snippets, retained for a maximum of 7 days.
JeevesJobs's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
4. How We Protect Your Tokens
Your Gmail OAuth tokens are encrypted at rest using AES-256-GCM before being stored in our database. They are associated only with your account and are never shared across users or exposed in API responses.
Tokens are deleted immediately when you disconnect Gmail. All synced email records, classification results, and snippets associated with your account are also deleted when you delete your JeevesJobs account.
5. Disconnecting and Revoking Access
You can disconnect your Gmail account at any time from your Settings page. This immediately deletes your stored tokens and stops all inbox syncing.
You can also revoke JeevesJobs's access directly from your Google Account at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
6. Other Data We Collect
Beyond Gmail integration, JeevesJobs stores the data you enter directly: your master CV, job targets, campaigns, applications, decision-maker contacts, and network contacts. This data is stored in our database with row-level security, visible only to your account.
We use cookies for authentication session management only. We do not use analytics tracking, advertising cookies, or third-party trackers.
